Samsung Could Launch A 'Slim' Galaxy Z Fold 6 Variant In October: All Details
Samsung could have another Galaxy Z Fold 6 model in the works that could be announced along with the Galaxy S10 series tablets this year.

Samsung unveiled its latest foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris earlier this month. But recent reports suggest the company is working on a new variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that could be launching in the next few months but only in limited countries.

The new variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, reportedly named “Q6A,” is expected to feature a slimmer design and larger displays. Speculation suggests that if this variant is an “Ultra” model, it may also include camera upgrades. Additionally, reports indicate that Samsung is testing software for a device with the model number “SM-F958N.” Notably, this new variant is anticipated to launch exclusively in two markets: China and South Korea.

Sources indicate that Samsung is expected to unveil a 10 mm Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim model in October. This launch event might also introduce the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series, which is anticipated to include the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Additionally, the October event could feature Samsung's first-ever extended reality (XR) headset, with a public release projected for 2025.

Bringing a special Fold 6 variant in these markets will help the company differentiate from its global products and help them grow in countries where the demand for foldable devices is higher than most parts of the world.

President and head of Samsung's Mobile eXperience (MX) division, TM Roh, has expressed a desire for future Galaxy foldable phones to be even slimmer. He has tasked Samsung engineers with developing an extra-slim foldable smartphone, aiming for a thickness similar to the bar-type Galaxy S24, which is 7.7 millimetres when folded, according to a report by KED Global.

The MX division is also working on lowering the weight of its next foldables to below 239 grams. Despite its slimness, Samsung’s next foldable smartphones will likely have a larger 8-inch screen than the 7.6-inch Z Fold6 screen when unfolded, the company said.
