New Delhi: Motorola has announced its plans to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Moto Maxx and Moto E smartphones. The company will be rolling out the upgraded OS for these phones with soak testing, which means the upgrade will first be rolled out to a small group of users so that they can monitor performance data and user feedback over several days to make sure everything looks good.
"As we normally do, we're starting by rolling out the upgrade to smaller test groups, and if the results are strong, we will expand the software to more phones," said Motorola in a blog post.
Moto E users in India can prepare for the upgrade by ensuring that they have the latest version of Motorola Update Services from the Google Play Store.
Motorola recently reduced the price of the Moto E smartphone by Rs 1,000. The phone that was launched last year at Rs 6,999 is now available for Rs 5,999.
Also, Motorola, in one of the replies to users' queries, explained why the original Moto X hasn't got the Android Lollipop update as yet. "Moto X (1st Gen) will get L, but chipset requires more effort. We're working to deliver satisfactory experience, performance," said Motorola Support in a tweet.
