New Delhi: Amidst talks of the possibility of mid-term elections, the Trinamool Congress on Tuesday once again snubbed the Congress as none of its ministers attended the UPA allies dinner hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence.
Instead, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee sent a junior Member of Parliament, Ratna Nag, to attend the dinner.
The Prime Minister had called the meeting to reassure allies even as talks of a Third Front were gaining ground.
This comes days after Union Railways Minister and Trinamool MP Dinesh Trivedi had talked about mid-term elections. However, Mamata had dismissed any such possibility.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Congress MP Harish Rawat, who is apparently upset with the party over Vijay Bahuguna becoming the chief minister of the state, also skipped the dinner hosted by the Prime Minister.
Following the reports, Prime Minister's media advisor said that the TMC did send its representative to the dinner and had also committed its support.
Referring to the absence of Uttarakhand Congress MP, he said, "Harish Rawat was not invited. Only four top ministers were invited at the dinner."
