Supporting BJP-led NDA was a mistake: Naidu
TDP had extended outside support to NDA which was in power at the Centre from 1998 to 2004.

Kadapa: TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said it was a "mistake" on part of his party to extend support to the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, and it will not be repeated in the future.

"TDP has committed only one mistake in politics - that is extending support to the NDA Government led by BJP," he said, adding such a thing will not happen again.

However, the former Chief Minister did not elaborate further on the issue. TDP had extended outside support to NDA which was in power at the Centre from 1998 to 2004.

Naidu was addressing a meeting of party workers in Rayachoty, one of the 17 Assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh where bypolls are due in a couple of months.

The Leader of Opposition in Assembly slammed the Congress Government in the state over the issue of corruption and said his party had provided clean administration when it was in power in Andhra Pradesh for nine years (1995 2004).

Naidu also targeted YSR Congress of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy over filing of a petition in Andhra Pradesh seeking a CBI probe into the assets of the TDP chief.

The petition (filed by Jagan's mother and dismissed by HC in February) was filed with an aim to eliminate TDP from state politics, the former Chief Minister alleged.

Citing the CAG report, Naidu said the YSR Reddy Government, in the name of promoting industries, had gifted 85,000 acres of land to certain companies and individuals.

He also criticised actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi for merging his party (Praja Rajyam) with Congress. On the occasion, Naidu announced S Balasubramanyam, son of senior party leader S Palakondarayadu, as TDP candidate from Rayachoty for the bypoll.
