Sodomy case: Former MP minister Raghavji missing after FIR

Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh finance minister Raghavji is missing and the police have failed to arrest him in connection with a sodomy case. There is a fear that he is in hiding to escape arrest in the case.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan rejected the Congress's allegation of protecting Raghavji. He said that the law will take its course but the Congress has continued to target the government on the Raghavji case.

A sessions court will on Tuesday hear the anticipatory bail plea of Raghavji. Raghavji had on Monday applied for an anticipatory bail after police registered an FIR against him and his two associates for allegedly sodomising his domestic help.

The monsoon session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly began on Monday and the MLAs were eagerly waiting for Raghavji to make an appearance but he didn't turn up. Raghavji was neither at his government bungalow nor in his hometown Vidisha.

While the sodomy case has been filed more than three days ago and Raghavji has also been sacked from the state ministry and been removed the BJP membership, yet he has not yet been arrested which has raised questions about the government's motive. Chauhan said as far as the BJP is concerned, the law will take its own course. "I have not seen the CD,"said Chauhan.

The Congress took out a protest march on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday and said that the party will bring a no confidence motion against the state government. Opposition leader Ajay Singh alleged that while the state government says the law will take its own course, it took six hours to register the FIR and then only was Raghavji suspended from the BJP. "Can the law work under such circumstances," he asked.
