New Delhi: BSP Chief Mayawati is now planning to quit as MLC and would seek a Rajya Sabha nomination. Sources said that this was decided after she met party MLAs and MPs on Saturday in Lucknow. She has called a two-day meeting of party members.
Mayawati will meet all office bearers and zonal coordinators on Sunday. The agenda of the meet will be to discuss the reasons of the poll debacle. Sources say that Mayawati is now aiming for a Rajya Sabha seat for herself and close retired aide Shashank Shekhar Singh.
She's also likely to take some drastic measures within the party and decide on who will be the leader of the opposition in the UP Assembly.
