Liberhan report in this session: Chidambaram
The report has indicted BJP leaders for their role in Babri Masjid demolition.

New Delhi: The Liberhan Commission of inquiry report will be tabled in Parliament in the current winter session, union Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Monday, while refusing to comment on the contents that appeared in a media report.

The Commission that probed the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition submitted its report on June 30, and "we are required to table it along with the action taken report within six months", Chidambaram said in the Lok Sabha.

"We shall table it during the (current) winter session" of Parliament.

"It is unfortunate that a newspaper has published what purports to be the contents of the report," the Home Minister said.

"There's only one copy in safe custody and I can assure the House that none from the Ministry of Home Affairs has spoken to anyone."

A report in the Indian Express on Monday said the Commission has indicted former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as well as senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi for their role in the demolition.

"I have said what I can say, I must be a foolish man to leak it and embarrass myself. The report is a voluminous report, the ATR takes time especially when you are working with one officer in secrecy. I still don't know of a way when 17 volumes of the report gets translated into Hindi without anyone getting to know the details of the report" — Home Minister, P Chidambaram to CNN-IBN
