New Delhi: CNN-IBN report on the inferior quality of wheat being imported for the poor has sent shock waves the country. Being imported at an exorbitant rates, the wheat is not even fit for animals to eat.
What’s worse, its being imported at a very high price from Australia
CPM politburo member Brinda Karat, who has been leading a campaign against wheat import, congratulated CNN-IBN for exposing the quality of wheat being procured.
She said both the state and Centre should be held responsible for the sham.
“There’s supposed to be a system in place by which the wheat which is given to states is first checked by relevant agencies. The issue is as to whether they are checking it. Clearly, that’s not happening. Therefore both agencies - the state and the Centre - are involved in this. What shows is complete callousness,” she said.
