New Delhi: It seems as if running into trouble with the Election Commission (EC) is becoming a fad amongst the politicians.
Now, RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad is under the EC scanner for a comment he made against BJP leader Varun Gandhi.
At an election rally on Monday, Lalu said that he would have “crushed” Varun under a bulldozer for his alleged anti-Muslim speeches if he had been the country’s Home Minister.
The Kishanganj District Administration has lodged an FIR against Lalu for his provocative speech.
Earlier, Lalu's wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi was under fire for using abusing language against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
In Delhi, the EC sought a report from the Bihar State Election Commission on Rabri’s remarks at a poll rally last Saturday in Chapra where Lalu is locked in a direct fight with BJP leader and former union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
The JD(U) has already approached the EC seeking termination of Rabri’s membership of the state Assembly, banning her from campaigning for the candidates of the RJD-LJP combine and debarring her from contesting polls.
