Lucknow: An FIR was registered against actor Sanjay Dutt for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by making communal remarks in an election rally in Mau district, sources said on Tuesday.
“When I was in police custody I was given third degree by them because my mother was a Muslim,” Dutt had allegedly said during his speech.
The FIR was registered at Dakkhin Tola police station, a senior official told PTI.
Dutt was in the city to campaign for Samajwadi Party nominee Arshad Jamal Ansari who is contesting from Ghosi parliamentary seat.
"Sanjay has not said it once but has said it many times. Sunil and Nargis Dutt - who have been MPs and have been close to the Gandhi family - their son was given third degree treatment in the jail and the policeman said 'hit him, he is a son of a Muslim'. Sanjay Dutt was just shared his personal experience," said Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh.
