An FIR has been filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khetan for hurting religious sentiments after he compared the party manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib.
During a rally in Chandigarh, Khetan said, "Aam Aadmi Party's manifesto is a promise to the people. This is our Bible, Gita and Guru Granth Sahib (Aam Aadmi Party apna manifesto janta ke saath ek karaar ke taur pe dekhti hai. Yeh hamari Bible bhi hai, Gita bhi hai, hamari Guru Granth Sahib bhi hai)."
After several groups lodged protests, Khetan on Tuesday apologised for his statement at a press conference. "Apologies for inadvertently expressing some words, never intended to hurt anyone's sentiments," Khetan said.

The controversial remark comes just days after another party MLA Naresh Yadav was booked for allegedly desecrating the Quran at Malerkotla on June 24.
The Punjab Police had questioned Yadav for over five hours in connection with the case. Sangrur SSP Pritpal Singh Thind said Yadav was asked 100 questions "but he could answer 35 questions."
Yadav was also confronted with the accused during questioning who had claimed he "did (it) at his behest."
