New Delhi: Brushing aside the need for an inquiry, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said that the Opposition is merely making unnecessary noise and is not ready for a debate on any issue. "Opposition is weak on arguments but strong on disturbance. We want the entire nation to hear Sushma Swaraj's views but Opposition does not want the house to run," Jaitley said as the second day of Parliament was also marred by repeated adjournments and no work.
Jaitley also added that no provision of the law has been violated by any of the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Leader of the House Arun Jaitley accused the opposition of doing politics of slogan-shouting as he pressed for starting the debate on the issue.
His stern comments in House came after Janata Dal United leader Sharad Yadav said that the ministers whose names have cropped up in the controversies should resign. "There has been enough of politics of slogan-shouting. You start with the debate. The House will now allow slogan-shouting. If you have any logic, then you speak," Jaitley said as Yadav rose to speak.
An agitated Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also asserted that there will be no resignations from any of the ministers. The aggressive stand by the government, opposition members created
uproar.
While External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has been embroiled in a controversy over alleged links with former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is in the line of fire over Vyapam scam.
Appearing to be in no mood to give in to the demands of the Congress-led opposition, Sushma on Wednesday hit back, claiming that a senior Congress leader made attempts to influence her to help an accused in the coal scam case.
Taking to Twitter over the issue, she claimed that a senior Congress leader pressed her to give diplomatic passport to coal scam accused Santosh Bagrodia.
