Sri Prakash Jaiswal says the BJP govt is responsible for the Naxal problem.

Raipur: Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal on Tuesday accused the BJP government in Chhattisgarh of responsible for widespread Naxal problem in the state and said Congress, if voted back to power, would stamp out the Maoist menace.

"If Congress comes to power, we will show how to deal with Naxalism and will ensure that Naxal problem is solved permanently," he said.

Charging the Chhattisgarh government with being responsible for widespread of Naxalism in the last five years, Jaiswal said BJP came to power riding on the issues of Naxalism and corruption but, it was during its rule that "Naxalism has grown by leaps and bounds and corruption has reached its peak".

"During last five years, Naxalism and corruption have grown several folds and Chhattisgarh has become the most corrupt state in the country," Jaiswal alleged.

He alleged Chhattisgarh government due to lack of intention did not utilise the services of 17 battalions of CRPF personnel (highest allocation of this paramilitary force to any state).

"The Raman Singh-led government was unable to raise six India Reserve Battalion (IR) during its full term despite Union Government giving the necessary permission and assurance to provide funds," Jaiswal said.
