New Delhi: BJP President Rajnath Singh slammed UPA for unabated price rise and bloating inflation in the economy. Addressing an election rally on Monday he said Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram is a minister for the “aristocrats” who has little consideration for common people.
Rajnath said prices of basic commodities have increased manifold during the UPA regime. "It did not hurt the rich, but the poor felt the pinch," he was quoted by PTI.
Charging Congress party for “nurturing corruption whenever it was at the helm of affairs”, Singh alleged UPA was engaged in appeasement politics by way of the Sachhar committee report.
Leaving no stones unturned, Rajnath also criticized UPA for not carrying out death sentence awarded to Afzal Guru despite his being convicted in the attack on Parliament.
Alleging that terrorism and extremism had grown during the Congress rule, Singh recommended that POTA must be brought into effect in order to control terrorism.
"The Congress-led government removed the law which is the need of the day. Strong willpower is required to strengthen the nation. Though Manmohan Singh is the Prime Minister, the key is with Sonia Gandhi", said Rajnath.
