Bihar political crisis: HC lifts ban, but with rider, on CM Manjhi's policy decisions
The Patna High Court had restrained the Manjhi government on Monday from taking any policy decisions.

Patna: In a partial relief to Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Patna High Court on Wednesday lifted ban on his taking Cabinet decisions but with the rider that he can only implement them only if he wins vote of trust.

The trust vote will take place on February 20.

Hearing the revision petition filed by Manjhi's petitioner, the Patna High Court lifted ban on Manjhi government taking decision in the Cabinet.

The court ruled that Manjhi Cabinet can take decisions but it will be implemented only after Manjhi wins vote of confidence on the floor of the House.

The Patna High Court had restrained the Manjhi government on Monday from taking any policy decisions. Manjhi can only work on routine matters till his majority is proved on the floor of the house, it had said.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) boycotted an all-party meeting called by the state Speaker Uday Narain Choudhary ahead of the Assembly session.

On Monday, Manjhi had failed to attend the all-party meeting called by the Assembly Speaker while the opposition BJP boycotted it.

The all-party meeting was called to discuss the political crisis in the state and to look into the demand of the ruling JDU that they be recognised as the main opposition after Manjhi refused to step down and was expelled from the party while former chief minister Nitish Kumar, who was elected legislature party leader, was not invited to form the government.
