Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and a Surprise Pick from New Zealand in India Legends' Dream ODI XI
With the world cup starting in less than a month's time, batting legend Virender Sehwag has revealed his top-five picks for his Dream ODI XI.

Batting legend Virender Sehwag has included three Indians, one Australian and a New Zealander among the first five players that he would pick when building a Dream ODI XI.

Sehwag has included two of his former India teammates in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli while also adding a third player in Jasprit Bumrah from his country.

Sehwag has given a place to hard-hitting Australia opener David Warner and interestingly, has found a spot for New Zealand big-hitter Glenn Phillips.

Rohit is counted amongst the finest white-ball cricketers of his generation and is aiming to emulate Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni to become the third India captain to win an ODI World Cup title.

Rohit had a memorable outing at the 2019 World Cup during which he peeled off a record-breaking five centuries in his total of 648 runs.

On the other hand Kohli is nearing the all-time record of most ODI centuries set by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar who retired after racking up 49 hundreds during a storied career.

Kohli is considered to be one of the greatest batters to have played the game and has thus far scored 46 centuries.

On the other hand, Bumrah is on his comeback trail having missed nearly a year of competitive cricket on account of a back issue. Last month he played in a three-match T20I series in Ireland and is now part of India’s 2023 Asia Cup campaign too.

He’s counted among the world’s top fast bowlers and will be key to India’s performance during the world cup.

Warner is in all likeliness playing in his final ODI World Cup and will be hoping to sign off on a high. He has won world titles across formats and is widely regarded as one of Australia’s greatest openers.

Phillips though has played just 16 ODIs so far for New Zealand but has already made a name for himself in the T20 format thanks to a string of blistering performances with the bat.

“They are all talented players and perform well in ODI cricket and they can win the games on their own shoulders. Whenever they click, their team will win,” Sehwag was quoted as saying by the ICC.

The ODI World Cup starts from October 5 with defending champions England taking on New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
