Maharashtra Public Service Commission Prelims Now on March 21

After being rescheduled several times, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) preliminary exam is now scheduled to be held on March 21. The recruitment exam held for the govt jobs was postponed on Thursday by the commission due to the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The commission also informed that the students who have received MPSC 2020 prelims hall tickets, to appear for the test which was supposed to be held on March 14, will be considered valid for the March 21 exam.

The MPSC further said that no changes have been made in the other two examinations scheduled on March 27 and April 21 and those exams will be held as per the schedule.

The MPSC 2020 preliminary exam was earlier scheduled to be held in April and is being postponed since then. The exams had earlier been postponed thrice because of various reasons, including the Covid-19 pandemic situation and the Maratha reservation issue.

After the recent postponement, the MPSC had received flak from the aspirants who took to social media platforms too to voice their grievances. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray had assured candidates that the exam has not been postponed for long this time. Soon after, revised dates were announced.

The exam will be held amid COVID precautions. The staff appointed on the MPSC exam duty will have to be COVID-19 negative to be able to enter the exam hall. Wearing masks, maintaining social distancing amid other precautions will also be practiced, as per guidelines.

Over 2.5 lakh students have reportedly applied for the MPSC examination 2020 and this recruitment drive will fill up 200 posts in various departments. The official notification for the examination was released on December 23, 2019, and the last date to apply was till January 13, 2020, while the admit card was released on March 2.
