Naveen Ul Haq received massive support from the Delhi crowd during Afghanistan’s fixture against England on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The scenario, however, was completely different from what transpired during his previous visit to the venue last week. The audience welcomed the speedster with “Kohli-Kohli” chants and even booed him when he was bowling to the former Indian skipper. But it was Virat Kohli who buried the hatched by hugging Naveen and asking the crowd to stop jeering the Afghan bowler.

In another video going viral on social media, a few fans could be heard calling Naveen from the stands. The Afghan pacer turns back with a smile and gestures a thumbs up towards the spectators.

Kohli and Naveen were involved in a verbal spat earlier in the month of June during an IPL game, between LSG and Royal Challengers Bangalore, in Lucknow. The scenes turned ugly after the conclusion of the game and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir also got involved.

But the India vs Afghanistan face-off saw Kohli and Naveen becoming friends as they shared a laugh and greeted each other with open hearts. The gesture was also lauded by Gambhir who was on commentary duties during the game.

On Sunday, Afghanistan registered the most shocking victory of this World Cup when they toppled England with an exceptional bowling performance. The Afghan spinners put up a dominant show in Delhi, defending a 285-run target against a formidable English batting unit. Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman stole the show and folded up with three wickets each.

While Mujeeb ripped through the opposition middle-order, Rashid demolished the lower order with his mystic spell. Among others, Mohammad Nabi picked two wickets, while Naveen and Fazalhaq Farooqi fetched one scalp. Their batters also appeared in red-hot form in the first innings. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and wicketkeeper-batter Ikram Alikhil scored fifties, helping their side post a worth-fighting total.
