Shahid Kapoor Slams Bollywood 'Camps', Says Outsiders Not Accepted Easily: 'I Hate Being Bullied...'
Shahid Kapoor said he doesn't like the camp culture in Bollywood. He said that people should be allowed to collaborate with whoever they want.

Shahid Kapoor lashed out at the ‘camps’ in Bollywood. Appearing on Neha Dhupia’s show No Filter Neha, Shahid criticised at the camp culture, adding that the Bollywood insiders don’t easily accept outsiders in industry. He urged his fellow industry people to allow people to collaborate with whoever they want instead of ‘dissing them’ or ‘putting them down.’ The Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya star dubbed his honest statements as ‘no filter Shahid.’

The actor opened up about his thoughts on the camps in Bollywood when Neha pointed out that he hasn’t been a part of any camp since he began his career. “Maybe I don’t have the qualities to be a campy person,” Shahid said, before sharing an anecdote from his childhood. “I was from Delhi, I came to Mumbai and I was not accepted in my class. I was the outsider because my accent was different, I had a Delhi accent. I was really badly treated for a very long time,” he said.

“We were living in a rented house so every 11 months, we would shift. I would be in a new building, trying to make friends with people who didn’t know me. I went to Shiamak (Davar) and college, and that’s where I finally felt accepted and I had my own group of people and then I became an actor. When I came into the industry, I realised this is also like a school. Bahar waale ko aasani se accept nahi karte ye log, inko bada problem hota hai ke tum aa kaise gaye ander. (They don’t accept anyone from outside easily. They have a problem that how you enter into the industry). So for many years you deal with that,” Shahid added.

The actor said that he doesn’t like the camp structure. “I don’t like this campy thing. I feel that people who want to creatively collaborate with each other, should. People are comfortable with each other, should. But that doesn’t mean you diss other people or put other people down or you close the doors to other people. And I think that that’s something which does happen in this fraternity. I hate being bullied, and I didn’t have the confidence as a kid, as a teenager and a young adult. But now, if you try to bully me, I will bully you right back. So I hate the bully, I bully the bully. This is no filter Shahid,” Shahid said.

Having been in Bollywood for over two decades, Shahid has worked with an array of filmmakers.
