Miley Cyrus Recalls 'Flirting' With Ariana Grande: 'She Was A Little Scared'
During a nostalgic moment while revisiting a clip from 2015, Miley Cyrus fondly praised her friend Ariana Grande and recalled "flirting" with her.

Miley Cyrus is back in the spotlight with her latest single, Used To Be Young. However, her return to the music scene is not just about the new song but also about a dose of nostalgia. In addition to her new music, Miley has launched a TikTok series with the same title, where she takes a trip down memory lane, offering fans a glimpse into her career, sharing behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and revealing untold stories. One memorable moment from her past that she revisited in the series was a Facebook livestream backyard session from 2015, featuring none other than Ariana Grande, where they covered Crowded House’s 1986 classic, Don’t Dream It’s Over. While revisiting the video as part of her series, the Hannah Montana star humorously recalls that she might have accidentally frightened Ariana.

Miley Cyrus said, “This is as serious as it can be, me and Ariana Grande in onesies performing in the backyard. I was flirting with her and she’s a little scared. We were having fun." Talking about their friendship, the singer added, “Ariana’s a real friend, there’s never been a time where I’ve asked her to do something that was important to me that she didn’t come through and same thing for me with her."

For those not aware, the backyard session featuring Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande was not just a casual performance but also a promotional effort for Miley’s Happy Hippie Foundation. The foundation raises awareness and funds to support homeless youth.

During the memorable performance, the two singers wore animal onesies, however, Miley’s humorous banter during the performance created a bit of an awkward moment. She jokingly asked the Thank U, Next singer if she was dressed as a mouse or a bear, to which Ariana responded with a smile, while Miley added, “Whatever you’re, it’s probably the cutest mouse bear thing I’ve ever seen. I’m a unicorn if you can’t tell." The conversation threw Ariana off guard, but she managed to give an awkward yet sweet response, saying, “You’re the cutest unicorn in the world."

It was clear that Ariana Grande appeared visibly uncomfortable and somewhat confused. However, when she realised that she had missed her cue to sing, Miley Cyrus immediately took responsibility and apologized, saying, “It’s fine, we can just riff on it. Sorry, I was f**king you up. Sorry, I was flirting."

Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande have collaborated numerous times over the years, with their cover of Don’t Dream It’s Over is one of their early collaborations. They later performed the same song at Ariana’s One Love Manchester benefit concert in 2017. This concert was organized to support the victims of the tragic Manchester Arena bombing.

They reunited in 2019 for the track, Don’t Call Me Angel, featuring Lana Del Rey. The song was part of the soundtrack for the Charlie’s Angels remake.
