Jawan director Atlee revealed he got calls from Hollywood and even a few offers to work in the West due to an epic scene in the film. Jawan, which was headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, had several whistle-worthy moments. One of which featured Shah Rukh Khan’s Vikram Rathore lighting a cigar with the sparks generated during an action-packed scene. Atlee, in a new interview, said that the said scene grabbed attention of several people in the west and they called him to talk about it.
Speaking with Film Companion, Atlee said, “People who worked on our film were from Hollywood. Action director Spiro Razatos worked with us. So, Spiro and other great director and technicians from Hollywood were at the same screening of Jawan. And Spiro said I have done action in this film. So, they asked who has done that scene where SRK is engulfed in flames. He said, ‘It was the director’s vision and he executed it.’”
“So they immediately connected with me and told me, ‘If you want to work in Hollywood, let us know,’ so it isn’t a taste which is very desi. It is something superheroic and it has a very basic rhythm. I thought this idea only works for us but it is working globally,” he added.
Atlee had previously said he would be interested in taking Jawan to the Oscars. The director, speaking with ETimes, said that he would approach Shah Rukh and pitch the idea of Jawan at the Oscars.
While we wait to see if that happens, Jawan continues to have a strong run at the box office. As of Day 17, Saturday, Jawan has collected Rs 546.58 crore in India and recorded Rs 966 crore collection, India Today reported. Jawan stars Shah Rukh in the lead, and Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone in crucial roles.
