Alia Bhatt was among the few Bollywood celebrities who attended the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh on Monday, January 22. She was accompanied by her actor-husband Ranbir Kapoor. Looking beautiful, Alia Bhatt was seen in a traditional avatar as she donned a turquoise blue Mysore silk saree from the shelves of clothing label Madhurya Creations. While following the traditional dress code for the day, Alia Bhatt did justice to her look and it was her saree that got fans’ attention for several reasons.
Notably, Alia Bhatt’s saree was adorned with hand-painted motifs that depicted some of the important scenes from the Ramayan. It also featured Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman, and Goddess Sita among others.
Alia Bhatt’s saree took 100 hours to complete.
In what can be said to be an ideal fit for the occasion, the stunning outfit took around 100 hours to complete, with the miniature paintings done in traditional Pattachitra style. Alia Bhatt while sharing a mirror selfie of herself on Instagram stories wrote, “100 hours of effort to make this pattachitra saree depicting the beautiful epic of Ramayana.”
Prior to this, the actress’ stylist Amit Patel while giving a closer look at the outfit shared some great details of how the sari was prepared. He also mentioned that the motifs on the saree depict some important events that took place in the in Ramayana. “The breaking of the Shiva Dhanush, King Dasharathas promise, in the boat with Guha, the golden deer, the kidnapping, the Ram Setu, Lord Hanuman presenting the ring to Ma Sita and the Rama Pattabishek,” he wrote.

While the saree which had a gold accent indeed left fans impressed with her fashion choice for the day, the actress rounded off her look with a neat middle-parted low bum with minimal make-up. She included gold danglers along with a matching potli bag in her hands. Keeping up with your classic look, Alia Bhatt also added a matching shawl to her traditional attire.
On the other hand, her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor also choose an all-white traditional attire to complement her. Dressed in a white kurta pyjama, Ranbir wrapped himself in a white shawl.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt had a successful year in 2023. She had her first hit with Karan Johar’s romantic comedy film Rocky Rani Kii Prem Kahaani followed by her Hollywood debut film Heart of Stone co-starring Gal Gadot.
Presently, the actress is busy with the shooting of her upcoming film with Vasan Bala titled Jigra. While she plays the lead role, she is also the co-producer of the film under her own production company Eternal Sunshine Production. The highly-anticipated film is expected to hit theatres in September 2024.
