Alia Bhatt has come a long way in showbiz. Her dad Mahesh Bhatt is one of the most successful filmmakers in the country. However, there was a time when Mahesh Bhatt struggled too. Recollecting his days of struggle, Alia shared that they entered a rough patch as a family and that her father was battling alcohol addiction.
In an interview with Elle, Alia revealed her father had a bunch of flops at one point. “He barely had any money, and he was battling an addiction to alcohol,” she shared and added that while he gave up drinking eventually, he saw many “ups and downs in his life and career.”
Alia further added, “My parents struggled to get to a point where I could enjoy their privilege. I do recognize that.” The Dear Zindagi actress added that if at all tomorrow she stopped getting films, she wouldn’t complain and always acknowledge that she got great opportunities.
Earlier in an interview with Instyle Australia, Alia further spoke about nepotism and admitted that while she was defensive about it initially, she later understood that she had an ‘easier path to get into the room’. “My initial response to it was very defensive because I just felt like, you know, I work hard, so why the question?” she said. “But I think with time and with age, you realise that there’s a lot of struggle in the world and there is a case to be made in acknowledging the headstart I had an easier path to get into the room,” she shared.
Meanwhile on the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Ranveer Singh. She recently announced her next titled Jigra. Helmed by Vasan Bala, the film is being backed by Karan Johar.
