Vijay Sethupathi Lowered His Remuneration For Uppena? What We Know
At a promotional event for his upcoming Maharaja, Vijay Sethupathi talked about doing the 2021 film Uppena for Buchi Babu Sana.

Vijay Sethupathi is undoubtedly one of the finest actors in our country. With every release, he proves why he is a sought-after actor in the industry. In a recent media interaction, the actor talked about how he does films for good stories and not for money, giving an example of his 2021 hit, Uppena.

Vijay Sethupathi is busy with the promotions of his upcoming project titled, Maharaja. The actor interacted with the media during a promotional event in Hyderabad. There, he recalled how he did the Uppena for director Buchi Babu Sana. According to the Jawan actor, he only agreed to be a part of the film because Buchi Babu Sana was so passionate about it while narrating it.

Furthermore, he admitted that usually, actors would decline to play the role of a father at his age. However, Sethupathi not only accepted the role, he lowered his remuneration for it. His words are being appreciated by the fans as well as the netizens. They are curious to know how much the actor was paid for the role. As per reports, during the time of Uppena’s release, Vijay Sethupathi’s remuneration was between Rs 10 crore to Rs 12 crore and he admittedly lowered his fee.

Directed and written by Buchi Babu Sana, Uppena was released theatrically on February 12, 2021. The cast of the film includes Panja Vaisshnav Tej, Krithi Shetty and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. They are supported by Sai Chand, Mamilla Shailaja Priya and Gayatri Jayaraman. It is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The music is handled by Devi Sri Prasad, the cinematographer is Shamdat Sainudeen and Naveen Nooli is the editor. Uppena was made in a budget between Rs 13 crore to Rs 15 crore and collected more than Rs 90 crore at the box office.

Vijay Sethupathi’s next Maharaja is being helmed by Nithilan Saminathan and is set to release on June 14. The cast also includes Mamta Mohandas, Anurag Kashyap and Natarajan Subramaniam.
