Tori Spelling is prepared to start her next chapter on Dancing With The Stars. But she is thinking back on the support she had from her late co-star Shannen Doherty from Beverly Hills 90210. In July, Doherty died at the age of 53 following a long battle with breast cancer. She has also participated in Season 10 of the ABC series, but she was the first participant to be eliminated. Now, with professional dancer Pasha Pashkov joining Spelling in season 33 of the programme, the 51-year-old took a minute to consider what her long-time friend would have to say about her most recent venture.
While speaking with PEOPLE, Spelling stated, “It’s definitely a hard time with doing the show and all the excitement and having lost Shan so recently. But I remember she loved doing it and was totally into it.” She added, “She definitely in life has inspired me that, you know, when you commit, you commit. And I definitely, this season, she has encouraged me to turn my power on. So I’ll take that with me.”
Spelling also mentioned the encouragement she received from fellow DWTS veteran Brian Austin Green, also a cast member of Beverly Hills 90210. She mentioned that Green was aware of everything ever since she got the call, and she expressed uncertainty about whether or not to participate. He inspired Spelling to take a leap of faith and assured her that she would be “amazing.”
Sharna Burgess, Green’s wife and the former professional dancer on the ABC show, was also mentioned by Spelling who admitted that Pashkov would make the Scary Movie 2 star’s “perfect” companion.
Spelling told PEOPLE that she questioned Burgess about potential partners in every way possible. After asking every query, the ex-DWTS alum went through each candidate and offered her reasons for thinking which particular individual would be a good fit.
The following people are in the reality programme this season: Joey Graziadei, Chandler Kinney, Ilona Maher, Henn Tran, Reginald VelJohnson, Stephen Nedoroscik, Danny Aemndola, Anna Delvey, Dwight Howards, Phaedra Parks, Brooks Nader and Eric Robers.
The 33rd season of Dancing With the Stars will debut on ABC and Disney+ on September 17, Wednesday. The next day, the show’s episodes can be accessed to stream on Hulu.
