Tom Holland On His Decision To Quit Alcohol: ‘I Was Struggling'
Tom Holland said a conversation with his doctor about his liver health solidified his decision to give up alcohol entirely.

Tom Holland recently reflected on his two-year sobriety journey during a podcast appearance, sharing how he gradually distanced himself from alcohol. The actor revealed that he decided to quit drinking in 2022 after a pivotal experience during Dry January, which opened his eyes to his dependency on alcohol. Additionally, an important conversation with his doctor about his liver health further solidified his decision to give up alcohol entirely. These key moments helped Tom make a life-changing choice toward a healthier path.

On the Rich Roll Podcast, Tom Holland said, “I couldn’t quite wrap my head around how much I was struggling without booze in that first month, and it really scared me. It was no easier. If anything, it got a little bit harder. So I was starting to kind of panic, thinking, ‘Damn. I have a bit of an alcohol thing.”

Tom Holland shared how his sobriety journey extended beyond Dry January, revealing that he initially aimed to reach six months without alcohol, making it to June 1st—his birthday—before evaluating his progress. “I really started feeling the benefits of a sober life. I started sleeping better. I was handling stressful situations better. My relationship [with Zendaya] was better. My relationship with my family was better. My relationship with my work was better.” Later, the actor intended to go a whole year without drinking, and by the time he reached that goal, he was assured of his decision. He stated, “I was like, I’m never gonna drink again because this is the best version of myself.”

Meanwhile, Tom Holland, who has been sober for two years, has entered the non-alcoholic spirits market. He launched a new non-alcoholic beer this week. “After two years on my sobriety journey, I wanted to create something that reflected my lifestyle and values,” said Tom Holland as quoted by Variety.
