Sharad Kelkar On Overcoming Stammering: 'Confidence Ki Koi Kami Nahi'

Sharad Kelkar is popular not only for his acting abilities but also as an excellent dubbing artist. Most recently, he lent his voice to the Disney+ Hotstar animated series Baahubali: Crown of Blood. The actor who voiced Prabhas’ titular character in the enormously successful Baahubali movie, reprised his role for the series as well. In his latest interview, he discussed how his self confidence helped him overcome his stammering issues and emerge as a celebrated performer.

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Sharad Kelkar was asked what he would tell his younger self, who faced several challenges because of his stammering issue. The actor stated, “I have not thought about it but main bota uss Sharad se ki dekh tu kar sakta hai abhi bhi. Tu uss din ka kyun intezaar kar raha hai jab koi tujhe kisi show se nikalega ya tera mazaak udhayega, ya tujhe chup rehne ko kehega. Tu abhi thik ho sakta hai. To shayad mein usse yahi advice deta jaldi thik ho ja to shayad jaldi kaam kar shuru kar sakta hai (I would have told Sharad that you can do it now. Why are you waiting for that day when someone will kick you out of a show or make fun of your issue and tell you to stay shut. I would have advised him to get better soon so that he could get more work).”

Sharad added in the same interaction that whatever feat he has achieved in life is because of his confidence. He stated, “Mujhe confidence ki koi kami nahi rahi hai (I have never lacked confidence).”

Baahubali: Crown of Blood will be available on Disney+ Hotstar beginning May 17, delivering a tragic chapter in the history of the Mahishmati kingdom that affected the destiny of Baahubali and Bhallaladeva. SS Rajamouli stated that the series’ events take place during the timeline of the Baahubali films, which add complexity to the cherished story.

Prior to this, Sharad Kelkar was seen in the biographical film Srikanth, which was directed by Tushar Hiranandani and starred Rajkummar Rao in the lead. Earlier, Sharad also lent his voice to Prabhas’ character Raghava in Adipurush. The actor started his career in the Hindi TV industry and gradually moved to films. He is known for shows such as Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar, Uttaran and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, among others. He worked in films like Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Mohenjo Daro, etc.
