Shamita Shetty has endometriosis and just underwent surgery for it. She shared her health update on Instagram, advising fans to get regular checkups. In a video from her hospital bed, she talked with her sister Shilpa Shetty about endometriosis, a condition where tissue grows outside the uterus. The video starts with Shamita seated on the hospital bed, wearing a surgical cap. Meanwhile, Shilpa asks her younger sister, “Kya hua?” (What happened?). Shamita then shares that she’s battling with endometriosis, urging women to prioritise self-care as many may be unaware of such health issues that affect them.
“All the women out there, please google endometriosis. You need to know what the problem is all about. Because you probably have it and you don’t even know you have it,” Shamita goes on to say in the clip. The former Bigg Boss contestant advised all women to search about endometriosis, suggesting many might have it unknowingly. Shilpa then asked Shamita if she had any last words before the surgery. Shamita shared that body pain serves a purpose, advising to “listen to your body.” Shilpa ended the clip with “Swasth raho mast raho” (Stay healthy, stay happy).
Shamita posted the video, thanking her doctors and mentioning that she is looking forward to pain-free days. The caption read, “Did you know that almost 40 % of women suffer from Endometriosis.. and most of us are unaware of this disease!!! I want to thank both my doctors, my gynac dr Neeta Warty and my Gp dr Sunita Banerjee for not stopping till they found out the root cause of my pain! Now that I’ve had this disease surgically removed I’m looking forward to good health n now more physically pain-free days!”
Once the video surfaced on social media, Shamita’s colleagues and friends from Bollywood flooded her with healing vibes and best wishes. Actor Bipasha Basu commented, “Take care. Heal fast”, and Dia Mirza shared, “Love and healing Shamita”. Her Bigg Boss 15 co-contestant Umar Riaz commented, “Recover well Shamita”, and Krushna Abhishek wrote, “Get well soon”.
Only recently, Shamita visited the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir, accompanied by her mother Sunanda Shetty and sister, actor Shilpa Shetty. Shilpa also shared photos from the trip on social media. They took a private jet and later, a chopper, to visit the temple. The visit was followed shortly after the Enforcement Directorate seizes assets worth Rs 98 crore belonging to Shilpa and Raj Kundra in connection with a cryptocurrency scheme.
