Vettaiyan is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year and today, the wait is finally over for the fans. In the past few weeks, the whole team of the project was busy with the promotions of the release, talking to the media about their experiences and how such a magnificent cast came to be. During the audio launch event of the film, the lead of the project, superstar Rajinikanth revealed how the makers decided to cast Manju Warrier as the female lead. According to the actor, it was the director who had informed him that she is cast as the heroine. He said, “I spoke about Manju while talking to Gnanavel about the story and who will do each character.” Speaking further, he added, “It was also Gnanavel who said that it would be better if Manju did the role.” The actor then revealed that he has not seen a lot of Manju’s films and has only watched Asuran, her Tamil project.
In Asuran, the actress was seen in a slightly older character. So, when he watched it, the superstar believed that she was the right choice for Vettaiyan. Shelling praises towards the actress, Rajinikanth stated, “Manju’s performance was great. Good energy, good dignity. It was a great experience working with Manju Warrier.”
Directed as well as written by T J Gnanavel, Vettaiyan had its theatrical release today, which is October 10. The cast of the film includes an ensemble of Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan. The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. For music, the makers roped in Anirudh Ravichander, while the cinematography is done by S R Kathir and Philomin Raj is the editor.
According to the predictions on the release, Vettaiyan is expected to cross around Rs 70 crore in its first day. Compared to the superstar’s previous release Jailer, Vettaiyan did a better pre-release business in the US.
