Rajinikanth broke his dry spell at the box office with the 2023 blockbuster release, Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Thalaivar, as he is popularly known, is looking forward to another much-anticipated film Thalaivar 171, written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. There were reports that he had charged a whopping Rs 250+ crore for this film. Another report published in the Koimoi portal has indicated that the Jailer actor is charging Rs 260-280 crore for Thalaivar 171. Nothing has been officially confirmed regarding this news as of now. If the rumours are true, then, Rajinikanth has created history as this amount reportedly makes him the highest-paid actor in Asia. Thalaivar 171 stars an ensemble cast of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Ranveer Singh and Parvathy Thiruvothu with the film in the pre-production stage now.
According to a report in Etimes published some time back, Thalaivar was not impressed with the story of the film penned by the director Lokesh. He had reportedly asked the filmmaker to make some changes to the film’s story. Rajinikanth had also asked him to avoid violent action sequences.
Despite the changes, the buzz for Thalaivar 171 remains the same and it has amped up further with the inclusion of some much-known actors. According to a report published in Indiaglitz, actors Mohan and Vijay Sethupathi are in talks to play pivotal roles in Thalaivar 171. Mohan will reportedly sign this film soon while Lokesh has offered yet another crucial role for Vijay Sethupathi. Also, there are rumours that Shah Rukh Khan may play a cameo role in this film. The official teaser for Thalaivar 171 will be unveiled on August 22 and will reveal the film’s official title. It will also give us an idea about what to expect from it.
As of now, there are no reports regarding the storyline of Thalaivar 171 but the director hinted about its storyline in an interview. He told the Cinema Express,” Personally, what I love about Rajini sir is his villainism. I am going to show that side as much as I can.”
