Did Shah Rukh Khan Predict Deepika Padukone’s Entry In Singham? This BTS Video From Chennai Express Sets Is Proof
On Chennai Express's 11th anniversary, mom-to-be Deepika Padukone shared a throwback video featuring behind-the-scenes fun from the film's sets.

Rohit Shetty’s hit comedy Chennai Express, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, completed 11 years on August 8. Released in 2013, the film captured everyone’s heart with Shah Rukh’s memorable portrayal of Rahul and Deepika’s charming role as Meenamma. To mark this milestone, mom-to-be Deepika took a trip down memory lane by sharing a delightful throwback video on Instagram, brimming with behind-the-scenes fun.

The video kicks off with Shah Rukh humourously calling Deepika ‘Singham 5’, playfully prompting her to strike the iconic pose of the character from the popular franchise. Interestingly, Deepika is now set to appear in the upcoming Singham Again, also directed by Shetty. It’s like Shah Rukh predicted this future role for Deepika. The clip also features light-hearted banter, including a playful exchange where Shah Rukh asks Deepika if he is a “macho man.” Her witty reply, “You are a macho babe?” is met with his quick and amused “no.”

The clip also featured some amusing interactions between Deepika with choreographer Farah Khan, with both laughing heartily. It also includes some of film’s standout comedic moments which remain fan favourites. One memorable scene from the film features Shah Rukh saying, “Aye Minnamma, meri dictionary mein impossible naam ka shabd hi nahin hai.” To which Deepika responds, “Accha? kaha se kharidi aisi bakwas dictionary?” This witty exchange still cracks people up, showing exactly why the film’s humour never gets old.

Deepika playfully captioned the video with, “How many times do you think I’ve had to repeat this dialogue!? Sahi jawaab ko milega ‘Ek Bakwaas Dictionary’!!!”

Alongside Shah Rukh and Deepika, Chennai Express also featured notable performances by Nikitin Dheer and Sathyaraj in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, Deepika is set to star as Lady Singham in Singham Again. In April, director Shetty gave a glimpse of her character, Shakti Shetty, on Instagram. The photo showed Deepika striking the iconic Singham pose. He wrote, “MY HERO… REEL MEIN BHI AUR REAL MEIN BHI LADY SINGHAM!!! Deepika Padukone.”

In Singham Again, Deepika’s husband, actor Ranveer Singh will take on the role of Sangram Bhalerao, also known as Simmba.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, ,Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Shweta Tiwari, Siddhartha Jadhav, Dayanand Shetty and Ashutosh Rana. Serving as the fifth installment of Shetty’s Cop Universe and a sequel to Singham Returns (2014), Singham Again is set to hit theatres on Diwali 2024.
