Dhanush's Directorial Raayan Now Set For July 26 Release

Dhanush’s second directorial project, Raayan was originally scheduled to release on June 13. It has now been postponed. On June 10, Dhanush announced the new release date of Raayan with new posters in different languages. Raayan will be released on July 26 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

The new release date of Raayan comes two days before Dhanush’s 41st birthday. Sharing the poster on his X account (formerly Twitter), Dhanush wrote, “#Raayan from 26th July”. In the poster, Dhanush looks intense and a painting of Kali is seen behind him.

He has not only directed the film but also written the story and acted in Raayan. The ensemble cast of the film includes SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali and Saravanan in pivotal roles. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will make a cameo appearance in the film.

Raayan is produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures and music is by AR Rahman. Cinematographer Om Prakash and editor Prasanna GK are part of the technical team.

After Raayan, Dhanush’s third directorial venture, Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam and director Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera are in different stages of production.

Previously, the team behind the movie released the first song, Adangaatha Asuran sometime ago. It was released on the official YouTube channel of AR Rahman. The song was viewed more than 1 lakh times within this short amount of time. It received a positive reaction from the fans who were waiting for the movie. Recently, Dhanush took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) to share new updates about the film. On his X account, he announced the release of the second song of the film, which is called Water Packet.

In the caption, Dhanush wrote, “Raayan’s second single water packet … A love gaanaa from @arrahman sir. Thank you @Music_Santhosh, for lending your voice to this song. @_ShwetaMohan_ lyricist gaanaa kadhar.”
