After Deadpool & Wolverine Success, Ryan Reynolds Urges Academy To Introduce Stunt Category At Oscars
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman play lead roles in Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine.

Marvel Studios’ blockbuster hit Deadpool & Wolverine enjoyed a satisfactory run in theatres across the globe. From meeting the expectations of fans to breaking a series of records, the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer has truly triumphed over other MCU films. Ahead of the 2025 award season, Reynolds is now looking forward to an Oscar. Mentioning that the Academy Awards are long overdue to add a separate category to honour stunt performers, the actor called out to the Academy through social media. On Wednesday, he shared a bunch of pictures with the stunt performers from Deadpool & Wolverine and dropped his message.

“Stunt work doesn’t have a category at The Oscars and I hope that’ll change someday. So many films SMASHED it this year… Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Chaplin were stunt performers as well as filmmakers. Telling stories with their entire bodies,” he wrote. Reynolds gave a special mention to the entire stunt team of his film and added, “The #DeadpoolAndWolverine stunt team over-delivered. Many are friends I’ve worked with for years and I’ll spend the rest of my days doodling their names in my Heidi Stationary, dotting all the “i’s” with little hearts.”

Furthermore, he went on to laud the finest talents in his team, detailing their contribution. Included was his body double, Alex Kyshkovych, with whom the actor has been working since the first Deadpool film. “He not only doubles me — he’s the Fight Coordinator. I’d take a sledgehammer to the face for Alex. Or rather, I’d ask Alex to take a sledgehammer to the face for Alex,” Reynolds added.

Among others, the actor mentioned Daniel Stevens, who works as Hugh Jackman’s stunt double for Wolverine. “He’s been “Wolverining” a long time. As we know, Wolverining is HARD. I’d ask Alex to eat the crab salad I left on the dashboard for three straight days this past July for Dan,” he quipped.

With his elongated post for the team and a lot of pictures from the set, the shoutout for a stunt Oscar has gotten even louder as fans also joined in. Many took to the comment section and supported his stance.

Released on July 26, Deadpool & Wolverine has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the second R-rated film to achieve the milestone.
