Meanwhile, a committee is likely to be formed to probe the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, which has left eight persons, including four farmers and two BJP workers, dead.

To conduct a fair and speedy investigation into the Lakhimpur violence, which has so far left eight people, including four farmers and two BJP workers, dead, a committee might soon be formed. “We have registered an FIR and investigation is underway. We are thinking of constituting a local team for a fair and impartial investigation,” said IG Lucknow Zone Laxmi Singh.

Meanwhile, a copy of the FIR filed from the farmers’ side has emerged in which Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra has been named along with 15 to 20 unidentified people. The FIR, number 0219, registered at Tikonia Police Station at around 2.53pm on October 4, includes IPC sections 147, 148, 149, 279, 338, 304-A, 302 and 120-B.

The complainant has alleged that they were protesting peacefully and showing black flags to Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni on October 3 at Maharaja Agrasen Inter College ground. As per the FIR, the incident took place at around 3 pm when Teni’s son Ashish Mishra alias Monu along with 15 to 20 armed men riding in three four-wheelers mowed down the farmers, while he was sitting in his Mahindra Thar.

As per the complaint, Ashish was sitting on the front left side of Thar and opened fire on the protestors, while mowing them down. The FIR also mentions the registration number of two vehicles UP31AS 1000 and UP32KM 0036 and one unidentified Mahindra Scorpio vehicle.

Meanwhile, another FIR has been registered from the other side against unknown people under sections 147, 323, 324, 336 and 302. The FIR was registered on the basis of a written complaint of one Sumit Jaiswal in which he has alleged that the vehicle was attacked by the protesting farmers first and post this, the driver of the vehicle was beaten to death by the protestors.

On the other hand, family members of journalist Raman Kashyap killed in the incident have alleged that he was mowed down by the vehicle which had crushed others. Kashyap’s father and brother said there were bruises on his body, suggesting that he was mowed down by a vehicle.

The family members have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and also asked for financial aid and a government job for Kashyap’s wife.

As per sources, MoS Teni has been called to Delhi for a meeting with senior BJP leaders. Sources also said his son may be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Police on Tuesday night imposed restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC till November 8 to maintain law and order situation, and ensure adherence to Covid-19 norms in view of the upcoming festivals, entrance exams and farmers’ protests.
