BTS Member Suga Accused of Drunk Riding a Scooter, South Korean Police Investigates: Report

BTS member Suga is being investigated for drunk riding a scooter. The rapper is currently completing his compulsory military training as a social service agent. South Korean media outlets have reported that the rapper has allegedly violated the traffic laws of drunk driving with his electric scooter. The rules for electric scooters in South Korea is reportedly similary to that of driving a car.

According to Yonhap News, Suga was found ‘fallen on the streets by himself’ on Tuesday night, August 6. He was allegedly operating the electric scooter in a drunk state. A patrolling police noticed him and allegedly smelled alcohol from him. Min Yoongi was brought to the nearby police station. The rapper is allegedly being investigated for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).

BigHit Music and HYBE are yet to react to the report.

Suga enlisted for military training on September 22, 2023. At the time, Yoongi took to Weverse and bid an emotional farewell to the fandom. “I’ll faithfully serve and come back … Please stay healthy and let’s meet all again in 2025!” he wrote.

The rapper entered the Nonsan Training Center in South Chungcheong Province to receive basic training before he moved to serving as a social service worker. He is undergoing social service agent instead of the military training like his fellow BTS members. This is likely due to his shoulder surgery. Social service agents are expected to serve for 21 months.

The rapper has maintained a low profile since his enlistment. However, he was spotted with Jin after he was discharged from his military training in June. The rapper celebrated Kim Seok-jin’s military training completion, which also doubled up into the group’s debut anniversary celebration.

Suga is scheduled to be discharged in June of next year.
