New Delhi: Indian Mujahideen co-founder Muhammad Ahmad Zarar Siddibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal was arrested on Wednesday night from the India-Nepal border following leads given by another arrested terrorist, Adbul Karim Tunda of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, say sources.
Yasin Bhatkal was arrested following an operation involving the Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing and Bihar Police. Bhatkal will be brought to Delhi on Friday.
Sources say intelligence agencies had been able to track Bhatkal and had been following his movements very closely for the last seven days. He was found to be visiting Darbhanga in Bihar and Sanauli in Nepal regularly.
He has been arrested with his close aide Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi.
According to sources, Bhatkal and Akhtar were arrested together when they were at the same place.
Now the agencies are trying to get information about other Indian Mujahideen operatives like Riyaz Bhatkal.
