Nothing works where Dr S Sailajanath Worked In the Anantapur district headquarters hospital, the children wing has about 60 beds, which is not enough for the patients admitted. There is no proper infrastructure or equipment to treat serious cases.
The warmers, ventilators and incubators are outdated and non-functional and most of the equipment is in urgent need of repair.
According to hospital sources, on an average, there are around 100 serious cases referred to the hospital, but because of the lack of staff and infrastructure, doctors refer the cases to the Kurnool Government Hospital.
Hospital superintendent Venkateswar said that proposals have been sent to the government for basic equipment like warmers, incubators, etc. But so far, there has been no sanction of funds. Incidentally, primary education minister S Sailajanath, a doctor, once worked in the district hospital.
