Bharatpur Municipal Council will now be a Municipal Corporation, Rajasthan government announced on Tuesday. The state cabinet which met in Bharatpur after a 11-day tour of the division took the decision to make the town a Municipal Corporation.
Separate 'gau-palan' (cattle care) department, effective provisions to check cattle smuggling for slaughtering, single exam for teachers recruitment, kisan kaleva scheme to provide meal at Rs 5 to farmers in 17 mandis were among the many announcements made at the cabinet meeting.
In Bharatpur, a 14-km highway would be constructed at a cost of Rs 19.5 crore to connect Brij industrial area with Agra highway. Also a medical college will be set up in Bharatpur for which the Centre granted permission on Tuesday.
For Karauli, the cabinet decided to issue NOC for construction of a bridge on Chambal river in Mandrayal. A mega highway connecting Kota with Agra road, construction of a few other roads, opening of a college in Bamanwas are the decisions for Sawaimadhopur district whereas several decisions for local development in Dholpur were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Raje along with ministers had visited the four districts under the Bharatpur division during the last ten days in order to reach out to local populace and know their problems at the ground level.
