Mathura: In the aftermath of the Mathura violence, forensic teams and bomb disposal squads have recovered a US-made rocket launcher from Jawahar Bagh during search operations.
Twenty people, including two police officers, were killed during clash between members of Azad Bharat Vidhik Vaicharik Kranti Satyagrahi and police on June 2. Clashes broke out in the city when police tried to evict illegal occupants from Jawahar Bagh on Allahabad High Court orders.
The rioters were heavily armed with automatic weapons and grenades. Police also recovered several country-made weapons and rifles.
"We have recovered a launcher which is made in USA. We will see the details first. It is under our custody," Mathura SSP Bablu Kumar said.
On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh ordered judicial probe into the violence. The probe will be conducted by a retired judge of Allahabad High Court and the inquiry committee has been asked to submit its report within two months.
