The residents of Tulu Nadu will be spending their upcoming Sunday watching their favourite plays. This year’s superhit dramas like Kathe Eddeundu and Kaljigada Maykare will be available for screening on the same day at Ravindra Kala Kshetra Cultural Centre in Bengaluru. After the super hit Kantara, the Tulu drama Kaljigada Maykare created a huge sensation. Tulu people love to watch plays and cherish their culture through these plays. Kathe Eddendu is a comical play directed by JP Thuminadu, who played the role of Rampa in Kantara. The audience couldn’t stop laughing after the play was screened at the theatres. The public review of the play consisted of happy and cheerful comments from the viewers. A few reels and videos uploaded by the director JP Tuminad on YouTube showcase the positive response of the viewers to the play.
Kaljigada Maykare is the superhit Tulu play which centred around the premises of the blockbuster Kannada film Kantara. It was written and directed by Rishab Shetty. The film centres around the fight of a tribal man against injustice with the help of a demi-god. In the film, the actor is possessed by Panjurli. Produced on a budget of Rs 16 crore, the film earned Rs 450 crore worldwide. Taking Panjurli as the centre, Kaljigada Maykare play is formed. It connects the audience to their spiritual history.
On Sunday, September 1, Sharada Arts artists Manjeshwar’s play Kathe Eddendu and Kaljigada Maykare Panjurli will be performed. Kathe Eddendu will be performed at 2 pm and Maykare Panjurli drama from Kaljiga will be performed at 6 pm. There will be an entry fee for the two plays and ticket booking has already started. As per media reports, the viewers have already planned their day to start with a comedy play and end on binding with their ancestor’s story.
