CHENNAI: The travel agents fraternity in Chennai has demanded that the system of travel agent counters in place at the Regional Passport Office be extended to the proposed Passport Seva Kendras as well, wherein they can make use of the authorised IDs issued by the Regional Passport Office.In their representation to the PM, the fraternity said that they were the first set of travel agents to be recognised and officially authorised by the Ministry of External Affairs to deal with the RPOs concerned for processing passport-related applications on behalf of the general public.It has been learnt through the media that the Ministry of External Affairs had outsourced passport services to a private body - TCS - the travel agents’ body said and claimed that it did not recieve any official information and was still being kept in the dark on the issue.
