THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Automatic ticket kiosks will be installed at the Museum and Zoo in the city, Museums and Zoos Minister P K Jayalakshmi told the Assembly in a written reply on Wednesday. The Department of Museums and Zoos has contacted C-DIT for the purpose and an estimate of Rs  38.85 lakh submitted, she said  in reply to a question by V D Satheesan, Benny Behanan, Anvar Sadath and A T George.SUMMER WOESThe Napier Museum has a veritable army to care for its gardens, but the green lawns of its spacious parks are withering this summer due to a marked lack of water, the Assembly was told on Wednesday.A K Saseendran and Thomas Chandy asked the Museums and Zoos Minister whether it had come to the notice of the Government that the lawns had dried up, to which she replied in the affirmative.The Minister said that the Government was planning to set up a reservoir on the Museum premises to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water for watering the lawns. Estimates were provided to the PWD and the necessary sum remitted, she said. The Napier Museum has a garden superintendent, a garden curator, two garden supervisors and a head gardener. A large volume of water is required to keep the lawns green, especially during the summer, when the Museum faces a shortage in water supply, the Minister said.
