Alangudi is a place situated 20 kilometres away from Pudukottai in Pudukottai district. The Nadiyamman temple is right at the heart of Alangudi, near the bus station. Every year, during the month of Aadi, this festival is celebrated all across the country by offering wine to the goddess. During the rainy season, every year, thousands of devotees celebrate the wine festival in August. Devotees flock from all over to the temple.

People from villages such as Kallalangudy, Alangadu, Sooranvidhuthi, Sambrani Patti, Kattupatti, Pallathividuthi, Karumbarankottai, and nearby places take part in the festival. During this festival, a special pitcher filled with nine types of grains, called madhu, is decorated with colourful flowers. Women often carry these items while worshipping goddesses.

The Mulaipari festival is also a noted one here. It is loved by the people and boasts a huge fan following. The festival is believed to bring rain and is considered good for farming. People gather for Thiruvilakku pujas to pray for these blessings.

The Mulaipari Festival, a South Indian event, is widely recognised in Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated on the 18th day of the Tamil Month of Aadi, falling in July. This festival holds great importance as a tradition during village goddess celebrations.
