A major accident was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district when the roof of a government school collapsed, raising questions about students’ safety. Fortunately, the classroom was empty at the time of the incident since regular classes were not being held due to examinations for Classes 9 to 12. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
‘No Serious Damage’
As soon as the incident made news, Local18 reached the site and took stock of the situation. The principal present at the scene confirmed the accident and stated that there was no serious damage and all the students were completely safe. He further mentioned that classes had resumed as there was no danger.
Renovated Under The Smart City Project
The school principal also revealed that the building had been renovated a few years ago under the Smart City Project. Despite the renovation, the partial collapse of the roof is a now a matter of concern for the administration. The school building is more than 50-years-old and this incident has raised questions about its maintenance.
Not Enough Arrangements
A school teacher noted that the number of students in the school is quite high in comparison to the seating arrangements and other facilities. He also added that the classroom was reopened for the examination shortly after the accident.
