Tamil Man's Annual Mini Marathon In Memory Of His Athlete Father
This year's mini-marathon was organised by Ganesan in collaboration with the people of his village.

Parents, even when they are no more, are always special to their children. Recently, an incident stood as the proof to this statement. A man conducts a marathon every year in his father’s memory, and even gives away prizes. According to reports, Ganesan – a resident of Pudukkottai district in Tamil Nadu – holds a mini-marathon competition every year in honour of his father’s memory. This event has created excitement among the people in the area. Ganesan lives with his family in Arimalam town, Pudukkottai district. His father, Ramalingam, was a runner. In his memory, Ganesan aims to bring out the sportsmanship of boys and girls by arranging this event. This year’s mini-marathon was organised by Ganesan in collaboration with the people of the village.

At this event, a large number of boys and girls participated enthusiastically and showed their skills. The winning participants were given cash prizes and incentives. A huge number of people belonging to the area cheered and praised the boys and girls, who participated with enthusiasm.

Recently, the Federal, in association with Repco Home Finance, organised a mini-marathon in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday (May 12), to raise awareness on World Nurses Day and Mother’s Day. Over a thousand men and women took part in the event, making it the largest marathon in Kanyakumari district’s history.

The competition had two categories: a 10-km race for men and a 5-km race for women.

Deputy Mayor Mary Prince Latha of Nagercoil Municipal Corporation flagged off the women’s race. Ramya from Kanyakumari district won the women’s 5-km race and received a Rs 5,000 cash prize.

The men’s 10 km race was flagged off by Tamil Nadu Dairy Minister Mano Thangaraj, who also joined in the race. Anand, from Ooty, won the men’s 10-km race and received a Rs 10,000 cash prize.

Minister Mano Thangaraj awarded the prizes to the winners.
