The Hyderabadi lass, who has revolutionised women's tennis in India and has many firsts to her credit, celebrates her birthday today.

Hyderabad: The teen tennis sensation, who has revolutionised women's tennis in India, turned 19 on Tuesday.

"There are no celebrations this year. We plan to celebrate at home with family and friends," Sania's father Imran said.

The tennis player shared the dais with master blaster Sachin Tendulkar at a function on Monday and said it was the biggest birthday gift she could have in her life.

The entire Indian cricket team has been invited by the Mirzas to celebrate her 19th birthday.

Sania, who has many 'first Indian' tags to her credit, leaped into the big league in just a year after she got a wild card for the Australian Open following her first WTA tournament win in her home town.

She became the first Indian woman to reach the third round of a Grand Slam, made history by winning the WTA title in Hyderabad and also reached the fourth round at the US Open.

Since then there has been no looking back for the girl having an overpowering persona with her glittering nose ring and a positive attitude as her trademarks.

Sania will begin the build up for her new season from next week with a two-week training stint under Roger Federer's coach Tony Roche, who will work on her serves.

What's your reaction?
