Kolkata: Out of favour with selectors, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is likely to play for English county side Northamptonshire this season.
Ganguly said he was in talks with the county, but nothing had been finalised as yet.
"There is a possibility of me playing for Northamptonshire this season, but nothing has been finalised as yet," Ganguly said.
Ganguly, who has been avoiding the media of late, added that 'something may materialise soon'.
Meanhile, Mark Tack, CEO of the Northamptonshire County Club, said: "we are certainly in talks with Ganguly and his agent. We are looking for a replacement for Chris Roger who has been called for Australia-A team.
"A final decision will be made in a week's time," he said in London.
He said the contract, if finalised, would be for five weeks starting from the end of the June. Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble have also played for the county side in the past.
Ganguly, who had been included in the Indian team for the Test series against Pakistan earlier this year, played for Glamorgan last season.
The Kolkata-based player is having a difficult phase following a verbal spat with coach Greg Chappell during the Zimbabwe tour last year.
