PARAVOOR: The one-year long silver jubilee celebrations, with the theme ‘New people of God in heritage land’ will begin on October 9 at the St Michael’s Cathedral in Kottapuram. Elaborate arrangements have been made to conduct the jubilee of Kottapuram diocese.A high Mass with Varapuzha Archbishop Francis Kallarackal as the main celebrant will be held.Kannur Bishop Varghese Chackalackal will deliver the homily. He will also release the jubilee logo. Kottapuram Bishop Joseph Karikkassery will light the jubilee lamp. A special jubilee prayer will be offered by Vicar general Monsignor Dominic Pinheiro. The diocesan jubilee song, written bv Sippy Pallipuram and for which the music is given by Fr Saw Kanichakunnath, will be released on the occasion.The foundation stone of a house, as part of the housing project, which aims at constructing 50 houses in collaboration with Fr Varghese Thaniayan Trust will be laid, said media committee chairman Fr Rockey Roby Kalathil.Pastoral Orientation Centre Director Fr Stephen Alathara, Hibi Eden MLA and Bishop James Pazhavattil will flag off the lighted torch rally. Bible rally and jubilee flag rally at the Ernakulam St Francis Assisi Cathedral. Pallipuram Our Lady of Snow Church and Historic Sambaloor town, respectively. All the rallies will reach Kottapuram St Michael’s Cathedral prior to the Holy Mass, said media committee convener Joy Kaimathuruthil. Several activities have been proposed for the jubilee year with activities like probing the history of the diocese and Christian activities in India, etc., said Bishop Joseph Karikkassery.
