THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fourth anniversary celebrations of the installation of the Shirdi Sai idol at Sai Gramam would commence on Wednesday. The five-day fete, which would be a grand affair, will be inaugurated by Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar at 11 am. The Shirdi Sai Temple, known as ‘Dakshina Shirdi’, had the idol installation done by chief priests from Shirdi four years ago. The idol has been carved out of a single piece of white marble. And the installation anniversary too would be celebrated under the guidance of the chief priests from Shirdi. The idol, weighing 1,800 kg, has been installed in the temple, which stands on nearly 5,000 sq ft. An attraction at this temple is the spacious Shirdi Mandapam. A sign, symbolising religious harmony, has been carved on the ‘gopuram’ of the temple. Special poojas and prayers will be held at this temple on all the five days. Music programmes form an attraction of the festival. There will be a concert by Omanakkutty and team, ghazal concert by Padmakumar, flute recital by Kudamaloor Janardanan, concert by K S Radhakrishnan and Kavalam Sreekumar, devotional music concert by State award winner Rajalakshmy, concert by Arundhati and sitar jugalbandi by Murali Menon and party, among others. Kathakali performance by Margi and fireworks display too have been included. A one rupee coin which has been specially blessed and brought from Shirdi will be distributed to the devotees. As part of the festival, transportation has been arranged for the devotees from the office of the Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust at Sasthamangalam to Sai Gramam on all days.
