PHULBANI: A youth, Raghupati Ganda of Budadani village under Sadar police limits has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and fined for raping a woman. Assistant Sessions Judge of Phulbani Santosh Kumar Mohapatra delivered the judgment. According to the prosecution, Ganda (20) had called the woman to his house asking her for help in some household work in July 2010. Soon after she entered the house he shut the door and raped her forcibly after gagging her. The accused also threatened to kill her husband and parents if she disclosed the matter. She, however, narrated the incident to her husband in the evening who called a village meeting the following day. As no decision was taken at the meeting the victim reported the matter to Phulbani Sadar police.
